Find hidden urban spots
Feeling jumpy to pee-pee in Amsterdam? Visit the fancy urinal from 1926 in the center of the city. The urinal has a statue on the left side and is declared as a national monument. It’s also safer than standing in front of the canal. You will be surprised to know how many people have fallen in the water. So try to keep the numbers low. Better safe than sorry.

Eat unique street food
One of the most popular street food in The Netherlands is: ”verse haring met uitjes” (fresh herring with onions). Our recommendation is the Simonis restaurant located in Scheveningen. They serve fresh herring, right from the North Sea! Eat your meal in one piece or the seagulls will come after you!

Experience crazy activities
Have you ever imagine how it feels to ride the waves and wind at once? Stop dreaming… You can try kiteboarding in Kijkduin. It’s a wind-powered watersport. You use a kite and a board to move on the surface of the water. Do you think it’s an extreme sport? We suggest taking a lesson first. Check out BLOW Kiteboardschool at Zandmotor.

Get lost in the nightlife
Let me tell you a secret about the oldest and craziest bar in Amsterdam. Here comes the story: “During the Golden Age of the Dutch Empire the sailors were famous for losing their money on gambling. The seamen used to trade monkeys to a local bar for food and a place to sleep. The captured monkeys from far away lands became a part of the tavern. Although there was one problem… The fleas were everywhere! So the owner was forced to get rid of the animals.” Nowadays the local bar still exists. It’s called: “The “In ’t Aepjen bar”, and is worth a visit for a unique experience.
